Dear Members of the Tejano Community,
It is with considerable reflection and a measure of sadness that the decision to step away from involvement with the Tejano Music Alliance Of Texas, effective July 31, 2025, is announced.
This was a thoughtful and considered decision, made after evaluating the alignment of our professional values and expectations with the current environment within the organization. While the mission of TMAT and the opportunity to serve the constituents of the Tejano Music Alliance of Texas along with others within the Latino music community have been deeply valued, recent circumstances have highlighted challenges that made it difficult to continue effectively in the current capacity.
The relationships fostered during our time with TMAT and the opportunity to contribute to the Tejano/Latino music community are sincerely appreciated. It has been a privilege to be a part of this community, and our passion for Texas’s multi-culture music remains unwavering.
As President, my leadership with the Tejano Music Alliance of Texas has experienced significant and positive growth and modernization, setting a strong foundation for the future. That strategic vision has led to a remarkable expansion of the organization's reach and impact. Notably, social media engagement and outreach have increased by over 365%, from 125 followers to over 3,000, significantly broadening the organization's footprint and connecting with a wider audience.
As President, I also prioritized improving organizational infrastructure, including successful initiatives to modernize systems and enhance service delivery. These efforts demonstrated a commitment to both expanding the organization's influence and strengthening its core operations for what I believed in, long-term sustainability.
Lou Squitieri, serving as Board Director and the Sergeant at Arms, was an exceptional addition to the team, bringing valuable expertise to navigate complex parliamentary matters and provide crucial support. His professional conduct and dedicated service were evident, and his effectiveness in these roles was not hindered by his different race and Italian cultural background. His strong support and advocacy for the organization were consistently superior, highlighting his commitment and leadership free from any form of discrimination.
Though the focus will now shift, the commitment to supporting Texas’s Tejano & other Latin multi-cultural music and its vibrant community remains steadfast. New avenues and initiatives are currently being explored, aimed at further promoting and celebrating the diverse Latino cultures and its musical heritage. We hope and pray that you will continue to celebrate the Hispanic/Latino heritage and rich cultures that Texas has to offer.
Your understanding during this period of transition is appreciated.
With Sincere Respect,
Tracy & Lou Squitieri
